John 3:16 is such a familiar verse to many people, but the Lord wants to take us on a short journey through the Word to build our faith and convince us that He is a very loving and giving God!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
This verse is so often quoted that we sometimes overlook how precious it is. “For God so loved the world that He gave.” It’s in His love that He gave. Our God is a very loving and very giving God! …and He gave His only begotten Son!
Jesus truly is the best gift any of us can ever receive, but God doesn’t stop there. When we receive Jesus as our Lord, God keeps on giving!
Romans 8:32 says, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
This verse tells us that since God gave us His only Son (Jesus), that when we receive Jesus, He will also freely give us all things! God does not want to hold anything back from us!
The Bible says, “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11) and, “Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:11). Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God… and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
God does not want to hold anything back from us. When you seek the Lord and have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then know that you also have access to every good gift from the Father! This is a promise!
James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes from the Father...” And Jesus said, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32)
This is the heart of our Father in heaven. He is not reluctant. It’s His “good pleasure” to give to us! So how do we access every good gift from God?
Jesus very simply said: “Ask, and it will be given to you….for everyone who asks receives… your heavenly Father give[s] good gifts to those who ask Him” (Matthew 7:7, 8).
Jesus simply said that we need to ask. That’s prayer! …and God answers prayer.
The Word of God convinces us that our Father in heaven is a very loving and giving God! He is not wanting to withhold anything from us. He wants to freely give us all things!
Whatever you may need, you have access to the Father through Jesus and have been promised that He will answer you!
So with that confidence–having faith in God’s Word and promises–let’s approach the Lord in prayer, knowing that He is a very loving and giving God!
